The principals of Campus Property Group, as charter members of the Contra Costa Centre Association, helped create a sustainable vision for a "Transit-Oriented Development" at Pleasant Hill Bart Station. Bringing together private landowners with the Contra Costa County Redevelopment Agency and BART, the Association created a public private partnership known as the Contra Costa Centre Transit Village.
One of the first "transit villages" in the United States, Contra Costa Centre is now a nationwide model for smart growth. Contra Costa Centre combines employment, housing, 8 acres of open space, parks and trails. The innovative commute program has achieved a 30% reduction in traffic congestion.
